About us
Background
In 2011, photojournalist Manuel Bauer and Dany Gehrig, CEO of Globetrotter Travel Service AG, founded the Globetrotter World Photo funding programme.
Over nine years, 19 young Swiss photojournalists received further training through the programme. At the same time it enabled them to realise a demanding reportage abroad, both in content and in duration. The finished reportages were shown in exhibitions and published in DAS MAGAZIN. The photojournalists were also supported in entering the profession.
Because of the coronavirus crisis, Globetrotter had to discontinue Globetrotter World Photo in spring 2020. Manuel Bauer then developed the programme further under the name TruePicture, placed it on a politically and editorially independent financial footing and extended participation to Germany and Austria.
